Financial Aid 101

This week the Razorcoaches are hitting the ground running and are excited to be back in their schools after a chilly winter break. Last week they spent some time learning about Financial Aid, including how to fill out the FAFSA and the details of the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship. We can't wait to share everything we learned with our students, but here are a few quick reminders:

FAFSA opened January 1 and can be filled out as soon as your parents or guardians taxes have been filed.

When filling out your FAFSA, mark that you are interested in Work Study. This is another opportunity to earn money for your education while working an on-campus job. Last year, many Arkansas institutions had positions left unfilled! You can always decline the work-study position later if you decide it's not best for you. But if you don't mark the box, you won't even be eligible!

The official name of the "Lottery Scholarship" is the "Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship." This scholarship can be filled out as soon as FAFSA is complete. So get those taxes filed!

Please feel free to comment with a question about Financial Aid if you have one and we will do our best to answer. Have a great week, everyone!
